NGC Newsletter – July 2024

Another month has gone by, as they do, so it is time to update those interested on the things we’ve been getting up to and how plans may be altered.

We’ve managed to get to the halfway point in filming for the year, a bit slower than I’d like but we’ll be busy in the autumn that’s for sure. On the casting/recruitment front, it has been ‘2 steps forward, 1 step back’. We’re starting to film with new people. As you’ve seen this month we’ve added Firebrand and Hourglass to the roster, but they were actresses we met in March. Now we are starting to film with actresses met in May and June, and the plan is to meet more in August and September and get something shot with all. We’ve had situations where we’ve cast people and then immediately something has happened to make them unavailable, so that is the one step back I mentioned, but we are grinding our way painfully to a cast of heroines we can all get excited about.

As for exciting, we are continuing the on-going process of costume creation. Not only are we attempting to make new costumes for new characters (which will amount to many over the coming months), but we are fixing and refurbishing old classics too, at the moment Shadowstar and Dynamite Doll costumes are being fixed, but this process will continue. We’ve also made an alternate costume for Patriot-Girl that you should see at some point that looks terrific in my view. These things are on-going.

In relation to costumes, the eagle-eyed among you may have spotted we have an addition to our menu called ‘New Dimensions’. This is the category where all our costume swap, universe bending videos will go. I felt it needed its own space. Partly because the Season 4 menu is gigantic (something else I should probably fix), but also because I don’t want ‘New Dimensions’ videos to have much contact with the others, they are very separate. Soon you will see the first of these, which is one that somewhat admits that our real universe exists, as a kind of gentle introduction… but after that is will be a full-on sandbox of fun ideas and things we’ve always wanted to make that doesn’t impact the overall universe.

Fundamentally I have long wanted to improve our costume game and make the site much stronger in that area, we are starting to do that.

In other news, just to elaborate on things I said last month, I am now closer to rearranging the way the mailing list and our emails work. I’m bringing in someone who knows a lot more about it than I do next month and we’ll make whatever changes are necessary to get more Members, and increase interest in this project. I rested on what I had for far too long, and I really want to make it better, just to see what will happen and have no regrets when it all finally ends, whenever that may be. I am waiting to be advised, so I can’t say what this will look like, but I expect changes (for the better), and probably more effort put into our social media game. We have 500+ videos and a similar number of photo sets, we’ve got a lot to draw on and much of it looks pretty interesting if nothing else to new people, we need to make more of it.

  • I noticed you haven’t done this in a while are u gonna continue ever so often with the endings where the heroine is so defeated they faint back down?

    • I’m sure we will. It isn’t applicable to most endings, whatever people say, it is actually a small minority of videos where the lose ending is a KO and the heroine just left.

  • Happy to see the New Dimensions tab! I think it is a no-brainer idea to re-use some of the past characters and costumes even if it is outside of the main narrative.

I am glad you acknowledge that the season 4 menu is getting a bit out of hand. I feel customers are probably missing out on videos because they can be hidden away deep in that season 4 menu.

Looking forward to seeing the upgraded costumes you speak of! And of course more of the new castings!

I’ve alway found it a little weird that videos were still being added to season 4 to be honest. I remember an announcement long long ago (8+ years) when NGC stated something to the effect that they were done trying to be so strict with the seasons and trying to bring everything to some climatic end which is how the seasons were structured. To me Season 4 ended with episode 10 (with a prologue of sorts for episode 11). Things after that (solo missions, special missions, etc) should have just been put under a different label. Particularly since so much of that centered around the 7th Dimesion/Crown Prince arc.

  • I will say your costume game has been pretty on point, especially with Firebrand and Hourglass, it’s nice to see some different colors sprinkled into the mix (the red and black bases for the 2 really help them to stand out I think).

  • Definitely want to see costumes in the future that show some more skin. At least ones that show off the actresses best features a little more. I understand that actress comfortability plays a big part and its not as easy as just doing it. I just feel like it’s been a while since we’ve seen a costume like Spectrum’s or Celestia’s alternate. Don’t get me wrong, I personally have like Shining Spirit’s and Galaxia’s too, but I’m not as big a fan of Firebrand’s and Hourglass’ mainly due to the capes covering them up. I know its a whole process and I’m definitely all for variety, but still feel like there’s been a void of those more revealing costumes and I definitely want to see more of that in the future. Regardless, I am looking forward to see what is coming and I’ll do my best to support you guys. Thanks for the update!

    • Ubiquity’s and Lady X’s are pretty much in the same “revealing” category like Spectrum and Celestia, no?

      • I actually almost said Lady X as well, as her costume fit under that category too. Not saying that I hate the others, but I just feel like percentage wise, its been more less revealing as of late. In my opinion anyway.

        • Darkwrath016 says:

Kyle. I’m just going to say I 100% agree with you. I had this exact thought myself too rather recently when I saw the Hourglass costume. Recently it feels as though I’m liking the costumes less and less these last few years compared to other periods of time with NGC. I’ll just preface all this by stating I’m not saying any of this to be mean or critical at what NGC and their actress do. This genre is remarkable subjective and what appeals to me may not appeal to others or anyone else for that matter. I also understand that a lot of what the actresses wear basically boils down to their level of comfort so NGC probably has to work with what they got.

That being said, I too also lament the apparent loss of “sexy” or revealing costumes. I mean, Houglass and Firebrand costume just weren’t it for me. I wouldn’t say that the costumes were the sole reason why I didn’t buy either debut videos but it did represent a solid 70% of the reason. On the other hand, Shinning Spirit isn’t exactly a favorite actress of mine but I’ll continue to buy her videos because that costume is amazing to look at and the actress herself has a body that can tempt any man to sin (ironic given the character she plays). And yes, I love heroines in leotards. Particularly high cut ones. And while the Shinning Spirit, Sonica, Princess, Marvellette cuts are probably too high of a cut (though I certainly loved them and kudos to the actresses for being willing to wear them), certainly the middle ground can be the Spectrum, Celestia, Wonderstrike, Starshot, Angel level cuts. The ubiquity cut is just criminal in my opinion.

And before anyone jumps down my throat and say I’m crazy or the actresses all look great (as I’m sure many were about to), this is just mine (and also Kyle’s) opinion. At this point, it doesn’t really bother me that NGC videos aren’t quite aligning with my taste. I had my glory days back in 2016-2020. I’ve got hundreds of past videos to look back on. There’s still two actresses on the roster (I hope!) that I love watching. Things change with time and that’s just life.

    • In my case I don´t feel they are necessarily less revealing, since as a catsuit/full bodysuit fan I feel I have been underserved since few to no new heroines since Majesty and now Firebrand used that type of costume.

Think the main issue was that the costumes “standardized” too much. Most were regular leotards with long sleeves (Princess, Ubiquity, Lightstalker, Patriot Girl, Solaris). They may have a cape or a skirt added to differentiate them but overall it was the same basic structure. Hourglass was kind of a disappointment for that reason, not even gloves or a belt/logo to add some more personal elements. In Firebrand at least I saw some other unique features like shoulderpads! Lady X shows the belly for those interested, but I still found it boring for being a leotard with long sleeves as well (and the fabric choice for me wasn´t ideal)

But NGC says he is improving his costume game and bringing more ideas to the table and he has created some bangers over the years so we are in safe hands. I think leotards are just the safest choice and they allow greater mobility probably (that´s why gymnasts wear them) and actress comfort is important but at the end of the day if clients find them boring we just stop buying, so balance must be struck there ^^

  • Any chance of having a new Union Jack costumed superheroine ? I miss the Majesty and Princess costumes. Keep up the great work ! 🙂

      • I’m unlikely at the moment to make a different character with a Union Jack costume. I may use the existing costumes again, though Majesty was very small, so I don’t think it will fit many actresses. The Princess version is more likely.

As a fan since pretty much dayone release, I have to mention this, your team everyone is doing an outstanding job! I will say I have and still to this day. Have my favorite actresses, and still rewatch them . It must be so devastating when you find a jem of an actress and unfortunate situations appear. I think the new section will also offer a broader range to find what kind of character will work with the actress/actors.

On the matter about possible missing the clients because of the size of a season, small web aspect and easy to implement nice big SEARCH category, then again you have the character page and that works for me since season 2. A minor thing with what you have in store for the ideas going forward

Just want to add that I for one a fan and supporter for you. Believe you are fulfilling a need and some great videos and photo sets, curious. What sells more now. The videos. Or the photos sets, no need to answer that would take an accountant I think
Best in the future and look forward to the next creation, video, phot set, and the website 🙂

    • In terms of unit sales it’s probably 60/40 in favour of videos, it used to be 80/20. Photo sets are obviously much less valuable though.

  • Dynamite Doll and Shadowstar are two of my all time favorite costumes so I’m glad they’re being fixed up! One can only hope the actresses associated with them will come back 🙂

  • I think the thing I would enjoy seeing most would be more movies in the vein of “Multiverse Mutations”, “On Guard” and “Becoming The Machine”. Basically, videos where the heroine gets to “die” tons of times and not have it effect canon.

In the Requiem vids (is she still around?) you have her doing her Time Pirate shenanigans where she gets to fight (and brutally finish off) a particular heroine multiple times, but it’s not OUR heroine so it doesn’t affect the main story.

Similarly, in “Becoming The Machine” you have Wonderstrike stuck in a VR simulation. So you get to have her “die” as many times as you want and it doesn’t really affect anything.

Both of these scenarios also lend themselves well to the heroine wearing various outfits in the same video. Your new category “New Dimensions” sounds like the PERFECT spot for these types of videos (costume swap, universe bending) so just curious if anything like the above vids are on your radar. Thanks.

    • We don’t do death very often, it loses impact, even non-canon. I’m sure we will do it from time to time though.

      • Thanks for the response. Not what I wanted to hear, but what can you do? lol

Was hoping after “Multiverse Mutations” that Requiem would make her way through the roster of Superheroines one by one in what could become a new series. But nothing ever came of it and it seems like the actress is unavailable.

I can only speak for myself, but it definitely wouldn’t lessen the impact on me. The same way I don’t get tired of seeing a Superheroine get totally steamrolled…I also won’t get tired of seeing her sell a death scene, canon or non-canon.

I don’t even think we can afford to kill off a Superheroine in a canon way anymore simply because the actresses are too valuable to keep around, lol. So I would prefer to see these heroines in a vid like the few I mentioned above before the actresses inevitably leave out of the blue.

I am not saying every vid has to cater to me, but one every few months would be nice to see. Unless all of the above vids completely bombed and didn’t sell. Then it is what it is. You need to make money.

Either way, thanks for interacting with the community. Take care.

  • Sounds very positive overall, great news. On the costume front I really enjoyed the new actress playing Hourglass but the costume left me a little flat so would love to see a new/alternate costume for this great new talent if she will be returning. Here’s hoping fo rmore Captain Liberty, Wonderstrike and Solaris.
    Keepit up!

      • Understandable but I was just musing as in the past characters have undergone costume manipulation at the hands of villains. Personally I would like to see the return of Steel Sister and more two-piece outfits or the cut away midsection style. Either way I remain an avid fan, here since Ep 1.

        • Yeah, I always liked that Steel Sister costume, too. The Astral Amazon costume always reminded me of an updated version of that one.
Too bad the Steel Sister actress was so busy. She could only do two videos (I believe), but they were really good ones.
…speaking of costumes, I’m really curious about the new Patriot-Girl costume (he says trepidatiously). I’ve always considered that one, one of the more perfect “actress-to-costume” looks the NGC universe has ever had (rivals Lady Victory, to my eyes), so I’m wondering what possible improvements could be made to it.

  • As well as heroines swapping costumes for the New Dimensions series, would you consider using a heroine actress in the villain role?
Given the “anything goes” idea of New Dimensions, it seems like a great opportunity (as well as fun) to see an established heroine actress ham it up and tear up the scenery as a baddie.
(like in ActionCosplay, how fun it was to see Celestia, Athena and Starshot play one-off villains)

  • I and many others I’m sure appreciate these updates on how things are going. Plans are progressing, it seems, with some frustrations, but forward movement. Firebrand is an instant hit with me, I’m still on the fence about Hourglass, but my first impression hasn’t been the last plenty of times. Casting the last few years has been almost all hits, in my opinion, so I’m excited to see who’s yet to come. Will we see the Bluebirds from a couple of weeks ago soon? Even in stills, the blonde had a spark.
Costumes is another area where things have been great in the last several years, so that’s exciting as well. With a bunch of new costumes and some older ones refurbished it’ll be great fun to see everyone mixing it up. I’ve said before that I don’t really love capes, they often seem inconvenient and in the way, but some costumes don’t seem complete without one (example: Firebrand), so I just hope for some variety there.
Likewise, the New Dimensions space sounds like a terrific place for some variety. I see some of the comments here about the potential for more death endings (not a fan myself, but some are) and heroines playing villains (sounds like it could be fun). Another possibility is videos where the heroine really screws up. We already see a lot of non-canon videos where the heroine loses and she’s spirited away to slavery somewhere, but I’m talking about a villain’s plan succeeds and they conquer the world or blow up parliament or whatever, and the heroine is faced with her failure.
I know there’s been talk now and then about another miniseries like Bluebird 2020, would there be a chance of seeing something like that in the New Dimensions area? Maybe for a particularly great match of performer and costume?
Anyway, thanks once again for the update.

  • Love that you are making the site more new user friendly, specially trimming down the overbloated Season 4 menu. I would just add a “non canon” label for new dimensions to differentiate them from the season that do have a coherent story more or less.

Many producers sleep on their laurels and then wonder why sales start going down as long time fans just move on and nobody replaces them, so it´s nice you are always trying to improve the site and the costume side! Think a re-focused action cosplay could also help to bring new fans but that´s up to you, I´m already thrilled we are likely to see old classics coming back. Gotta thank Alias for that!!

  • I would like to see individual stories with the arrival of ‘New Dimensions’, it is definitely a good option for heroines to have death scenes, the few they have in their long list of videos are quite good, End of a miracle for me is one of the best neck snaps I have seen, possibly the best, and believe me I have seen many, even something that can continue to work for them is to put alternative endings, that is always an excellent option to sell a video to an audience that enjoys one or the other option.

Please when you make death endings give me more clues, it is very difficult to find them among so many videos haha.
