Comet Girl 🙂

If NGC ever missed the mark in ANY of their videos, it was with Comet Girl.
I was always looking for the “speed effects” and hardly seeing them.
Too bad you didn’t have more special effects at your avail. I think it really would’ve added a nice dimension to those videos.

Perhaps we lacked creativity, but the only way that she could get into serious trouble is if the power was neutralised in some way. If she maintained super-speed for a whole video, whereby no one could catch her, or only very briefly, then you’d be surprised how boring that would be. And I would face a shitstorm of criticism that there was no jeopardy and just running around. When you devise characters and their powers, after a while you say “We haven’t had a super=speed character” but when you start to use that power you realise that it is pretty unhelpful for telling a story in limited space with limited effects and props.

That’s why most comic book heroes end up with an “opposite villain”…same powers than them but stronger or augmented (see Reverse Flash for example) because those are the ones that can match his powers when writers write themselves into creative corners ^^.
Happens to the best, so don’t worry! I like that we keep gettin a huge variety of heroines and costumes ^^

You make a good point, but my comment had more to do with visual effects, or rather, the lack of.
…but, you do what you can with what you have available at that time, and that was also part of my commentary.
In the end, you did very well with those videos, it just would’ve been nice if you could’ve shown that speed a little more, or maybe…a little more obviously (you actually started to do that in her first video, but in successive videos, her speed seemed to be shown less and less).
Sure, we all look forward to the heroine having her powers neutralized, or having them somehow used against her (like Comet Girl getting the upper hand on her oppressor, then suddenly slams into an errant wall that was somehow placed in her path, probably because she became overconfident and wasn’t paying attention to where she was going….something like that), but my feeling was always to demonstrate the power first. I think that makes the neutralization all the better.
I hope you took no offense to my comments. Overall, I think you’re doing a very good job and I do appreciate all the hard work you put into each and every one of these videos.
