I’ve been asked a couple of times what happened to the monthly newsletter, which was nice. Nothing really ‘happened’, other than not doing it during winter when we weren’t filming, and just not restarting it.
For the most part I think people read this to find out about what we have coming up and what the heroine characters are up to. The only issue with that being that it might spoil things.
We have been doing a lot of shooting since early March, and I think we’ve so far done at least one day with everyone, this gives us a mostly even release schedule to keep things interesting. I’ve got a newbie you’ve not seen yet releasing relatively soon, and I will be looking to add a couple more to our roster over the summer.
I will be making changes to our social media posts and they will become more video-centric. We get significantly more engagement with video posts than image ones. This will mean teasers going up a couple of weeks after they appear here, and one or two other ideas I want to try out.
Those of you who got ‘Heroine or Zeroine’ last month will have noted a few innovations in presentation, for example Killscapes doodlings. We will be adding more things like that (not exactly like that) to enhance the story on a regular basis from now on. There is so much more you can do now that was essentially impossible a few years ago and NGC is ripe for making the most of it.
If anyone has questions I will try and answer them under this post.
Gabs says:
Will “Supreme Sentinel” continue to appear in future videos?
I love your content, by the way.
ngcrisis says:
Yep, we really enjoy working with her.
pulphead says:
will we see “Supreme Sentinel” in a belly revealing uniform (lady atom – lady victory etc.)?
what about the newbies :)?
ngcrisis says:
It isn’t out of the question.
pulphead says:
🙂 I am super happy 🙂
Gabs says:
We will see her in Celestia’s costume this weekend.
What else you want?
Alex says:
Ik you can’t spoil things but I really hope we can see supreme sentinel in the pink workout outfit again in a video
ngcrisis says:
Okay, well, could happen.
John says:
How soon until chloroform makes a triumphant return?
ngcrisis says:
Hard to say, never that far away.
SCC says:
Any chance of a chloroform scene in the next month or two? Super excited for it 😊
Mike says:
Well we see more from the actress that starred in last of the drone video??
ngcrisis says:
Hope so!
C13 says:
Given how the story has developed, I appreciate not wanting to spoil things! I am very curious and excited for our next story teaser.
ngcrisis says:
The next Story video is coming out in June, so a teaser won’t be far away!
Mitch says:
Sorry to pile on with the questions, but this line of your post stood out for me:
“There is so much more you can do now that was essentially impossible a few years ago and NGC is ripe for making the most of it.”
Are there any examples of this you can tell us about? I’m very intrigued.
Thanks again for everything you all produce!
ngcrisis says:
Well I suppose the easiest example is back in Season 1 some of the Episodes had comic book panels in them, because we were using Danny Ryan to make comics for us, which you can see at the bottom of the On-Going Story menu. Aside from Danny unfortunately having an issue with his arm that stopped him drawing, we might have to delay things to fit with his availability. This was more possible back then as new videos were 2-3 months apart. Now we can make comic book panels with a prompt very cheaply. Or we can get a short video to enhance a voice over to explain something better. I’m aware artists don’t want to hear that, but it is not lost revenue for them, we simply wouldn’t have made it if we had to use an artist.
Most people do things a bit in their own time. I’ve missed one proposed release date by 24 hours since 2009, which wasn’t my fault. We all have standards and those are mine.
Alex says:
Is it just me or is the Wednesday preview not showing up for you
guido84 says:
Yep, no trailer. And it’s not and ActionCosplay or Championship week (where we don’t get the trailers until Friday)
ngcrisis says:
I’ve posted now, it gave the excuse ‘Missed Schedule’, which is painfully inept.
guido84 says:
Given that the last few days have been the hottest May days on record in the UK, I hope you’ve been going easy on your cast this year 😆
ngcrisis says:
Luckily we haven’t had any shoots scheduled in the last few days. Hot shoots are not fun.
Alex says:
Would u ever consider doing some boxing videos especially in the championship?:)
ngcrisis says:
While I wouldn’t say definitely ‘no’, I’ve found in recent times that we simply don’t have the leeway we used to in order to deviate from the main stuff. The Championship has always been an overlap between wrestling and superheroine genre, and these things have become less and less affordable to make as the sales simply aren’t there.
Dr G says:
Can you share 1 or 2 examples of say an idea that you thought would be great to do in a film but when it came time to do it, it fell apart / didn’t work out the way that you thought it would ? Thanks and keep up the great work ! 🙂
ngcrisis says:
Hmmmm…. There must be something but I can’t think of it right now. One example of something that was a lot harder than I’d expected was the whole set up for the filming of ‘Dimensional Rip’ with Wonderstrike and Princess against Anvil and Requiem. It doesn’t come across when watching the finished video, but I just remember all the passing around of the portal device, where portals appeared, and getting both fights in the right place each time was very taxing and slow.
Other than that, if something turned out badly we just didn’t release it.
Bleh says:
On that note, have you ever started to work out a story only to end up abandoning it and doing something else, because you realized it would be impossible to shoot?
ngcrisis says:
Not because it was logistically impossible, because I am pretty in tune with that, but I have had to change the story idea 50 to 100 times due to actor availability. That’s not an exaggeration.
Maf says:
Is there cutting room floor of those videos that “turned out badly”. I bet that could make for great member gifts
I´m sure as hell anything having Athena or Deceptress would temp me to buy anything it was attached to.
Bert says:
I’m curious about how actresses approach the peril aspects of your videos. It seems like some performers have an almost innate understanding of how to transition from being dominant in a fight situation to playing the peril parts in a compelling way. I imagine many actresses enjoy the empowering concept of suiting up as a hero and beating up bad guys, but what is your sense of how they view acting out the parts where they are losing?
ngcrisis says:
It doesn’t really come up unless it is a situation where she might have to be tied up for a while. Losing the fight isn’t really an issue because this is an accepted part of a heroes journey, and if they are at the point where they are actually in a room filming with us then they know they’ll be facing adversity the majority of the time. I can think of a few occasions where people have said “Oh man, I’m getting my butt kicked” – one of those was the Dominator, who likes winning, another was AJ from Kandy Crisis who was used to winning all the time, but it wasn’t a serious complaint or anything. If some performers are better at the transition than others, well, some are better at acting than others.
Maf says:
Do you plan or ever trying to revive Metro Girl?
I was a big fan of that style of costume since we don´t have anything like it in the current roster, be it AC or regular NGC stuff
ngcrisis says:
Maybe, if I can find a version of the costume I like. I bought a couple from China but they were weirdly enormous. I’d love to get a really good one, but not sure I can justify the expense of getting it made by my seamstress.
Maf says:
Would you accept a donation to get one tailor made from China maybe?
I don´t know if Aliexpress works in the UK but some stores offer custom sizing for an extra fee. I can always ask a cosplayer friend for tips where she gets her suits/costumes (from the top of my mind I remember this site called Herostime)
Although the issue of having it tailor made for a specific body is it might not fit another actress as well later. But since I´m interested in seeing the suit/character back I could as well chime in with a donation to make it happen if there´s demand for it
Dr G says:
1) Maybe a dumb question, but why did you decide to become a superheroine perils film producer ? 2) If you had not become a superheroine perils film producer, what other career paths might have you followed ? Thanks !
ngcrisis says:
1) At the time I decided to do it people may not remember, but there was a lull in any kind of production in this genre. I’d always been interested in superhero and heroine content particularly live action. A lot of what was made before 2009 was 30 minute videos in 15 parts on subscription sites, shot in people’s houses or hotel rooms, with Halloween costumes. I’m not knocking anyone, that is just how much of it was. I just thought I would make a few NGC videos with bespoke costumes and sell them all in one full video, avoiding subscriptions, then see how it did.
2) I don’t really know what I’d be doing by now because I have been doing this for such a long time. I am pretty sure I would be self-employed in some capacity.
