Wow, that was pretty intense! Tremendous character work, which is what’s always separated NGC from the rest, even from the very beginning. I loved how the similarities between this one and Lines That Can’t Be Crossed were brought up not only in the previously on section, but by Echo herself early on. It also reminded me of Land of the Blind too, where Supreme Sentinel found herself caught between a villain and his reluctant heroine ally. Which makes me wonder what she’s up to in the story world?
Lady X was great here, just totally sold how torn apart she is by her current predicament. And her reactions at the end (which I’ll keep spoiler free) really made you feel for her watching it. I will say, I was interesting to see her take it to Acolyte during their portion of the fight; is she the first heroine to get the better of him?
Echo for her part also had some great character work. Her indignation at the thought of teaming with villains, and then you could feel the hurt and anger come out when it came time to fight Lady X. And some choice words at the end there! Additionally, I think she’s made for a fantastic successor to Ubiquity for “underdog heroine constantly out of her depth”, as I could watch her go up against Acolyte all the time.
Another terrific story segment, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Haven’t got to see this one yet but sounds better than expected.
I know in Captain Liberty’s video she had Acolyte beaten until he hit her with weapon but that’s the only story example I can think of off my head of someone getting the better of him.

First off, I’ll like to give Echo her flowers from her last video “After The Battle” where incidentally, she also faced Acolyte. I didn’t get a chance to comment on that video because of life and all that but I’d like to take this moment to say this: that was a great video with an amazing performance on Echo’s part who is just a stunning actress. That was a one sided affair and it was sold beautifully by Echo across 17 minutes of pure entertain. And the submission at the end with Echo choosing to be a trophy….chef’s kiss. I know the member discount period has long gone but that video is pretty much a must watch by any all Echo fans (and even none fans).
With that bit of housekeeping done, now time for this video which I thought was pretty good. For me, the Echo parts are where it’s at (sorry Lady X fans. I’m just not a fan of hers so someone else would have to speak for her parts). It all starts right from when she ends up writhing on the floor from whatever device Acolyte has and it goes fairly downhill from that point onwards. I could do a play by play of exactly how that went but quite frankly, it can all be summed up as: Acolyte did some attack (kneeing her, punching her, pulling her hair, choking her) and the Echo actress sold everything to near perfection. There’s just no flaw in her game in selling peril.
And, as I’ve said multiple times before, some of the best moments in any SHIP film aren’t necessarily when a heroine is directly on the receiving end of a hit but rather those “in between moments”. Moments when she’s crawling away in distress. Moments when one sequence of attacks are completed and there’s like a 5 to 10 second break before the next one. I’ve seen many an instance where actresses completely fumble this and it creates a disjointed peril sequence. But not in Echo’s case. She does a wonderful job bridging these sequences together by just being constantly in peril from her actions, facial expressions and tone even when Acolyte isn’t pummeling her at that exact moment. It really does cement her as being one of the best that NGC has to offer.
The only slight I have against Echo (and it’s a minor one) is that her actual fighting skills are lacking a bit. Like when she throws a punch or a kick or in general attacks, it doesn’t feel very convincing. Contrast that to the likes of Lady X who I think is the best pure fighter on the roaster right, and Echo’s ability in this area becomes rather glaring.
But that’s just a minor slight. Echo is far too amazing for that to even remotely be anything but a mere blemish in what is a great performance. The Echo peril parts is probably one-third of the film (since there are two other fights that occur: Acolyte v Lady X and Lady X v Echo) but that portion is really can’t miss TV from a peril aspect.

Lady X and Echo are great in this one. Echo looks great in restraints. Team Purple was short lived. Echo was the smartest as her plan for the Patriot-Girl/Seth versus John Roman/Killscape battle made the most sense. Can’t wait for the next story episode ! 🙂

Another excellent story video.
I had to re-watch the ending of the previous story entry, and the continuation goes in a direction that I really wasn’t expecting it to. But it’s good to be surprised… and I really can’t guess where things are going to go from here.
